Barbed wire at the top bit into his hands, but he didn't care. He had to know the truth. He hit the ground running and scaled another fence with barely any effort. He darted through the dense, tangled undergrowth with reckless abandon, mindless of the limbs and branches that whipped at his face. A few scratches were a fair price to pay. He splashed through a small stream, aware the entire time of shouts from behind him. His pursuers were gaining on him; he wasn't going to make it.He skidded to a stop, sending chunks of dirt and loose rock flying over the edge of the cliff.
